I sat down with Dana Dean, to talk alternative wedding gift registries for this season. The wedding industry has came a long way, just four years ago when my husband and I were shopping for our registry it was such a painful experience! Now, you can registry for pretty much anything you want or even let your guests decide between a gift off of Etsy, excursions for your honeymoon, repairs for your home or even a donation to your local humane society. A little rest and relaxation never hurt anyone! Treat your bridal party to a spa day. Facials, massages, pedicures and manicures… the options are endless. You could spend the day at a spa or have someone come to your house. Give everyone a homemade lemon sugar scrub as a souvenir. It easy to make, just sugar, lemon, and olive oil. Every time they use it, they will think of you. Sushi is a great place to have a group dinner. Order family style so everyone gets what they want and try new things. Dress up and enjoy the company of your best friends around. Pick a place with good atmosphere like Tani or the Drunken Fish!
Try a girl’s night out! Pick a specialty bar like Sub Zero Vodka Bar or Baileys Chocolate Bar. Chocolate and Martini’s, a girl’s two best friends in one drink! This is a fun way to try new drinks for a girl night on the town!
Girls can love sports too! For a summer wedding, take the bridal party to a cards game. Who wouldn’t want to see the World Series Champions at work? This is a definite good time. And for the winter wedding, take the girls to a Blues game. Every girl loves a man in uniform!
Trolley around St Louis is a fun adventure. Bring a photographer or just your own camera and go tour St Louis. Stop at cute and fun spots around the city and pose away!
I am so excited for this years wedding fashion trends. It is always recommended to start shopping for that perfect dress 10-12 months in advance. Be sure to ask the salons if they have any trunk shows you can attend and bring a friend, sister, and of course your mom When going to salons, know your budget and stick to it! Meet Dallis and Scott- this crazy in love couple tied the knot just after the New Year at City Museum, here in St. Louis. Dallis and Scott are professional Roller Derby players and are probably one of the coolest couples I’ve ever worked with. She is as charming as they come and Scott (aka Scotty) loves and adores everything about her, which is such a powerful thing to see in couples. Behind all the glamour of my job I truly enjoy a beautiful wedding and when I heard them share their vows (they wrote their own) it was a moment I’ll never forget, I couldn’t help but to reach for my heart and whip my tear… Not to mention she has one heck of a voice
Dallis and Scott really wanted the wedding to be special and reflect who they are. They had a Steampunk Themed wedding, playful/fun environment (City Museum), and an amazing band (Griffin and the Gargoyles). The flower girl came in on Roller Skates (she rocked it) and the two ring bearers came in with firefly mason jars- too cute! The photobooth and dance floor was packed the entire night and I am happy to say, no one left early! Many of the guests enjoyed the theme and came in costumes or brought fun props. This was a very unique wedding, which makes me love it even more!!!
I just amazes me sometimes how a wedding day can be so perfect. Wedding planners spend most of the year hoping and praying that the rain will stay away for their outdoor weddings… this October 15th wedding is no exception!
Rachel and Jermal met at the Zoo (they both very active in philanthropic work). Jermal was on the board of the Young Zoo Friends and a mutual friend introduced the two at the annual Zootini. So it was no surprise that they wanted to get married near by and it just so happens to be one of the most beautiful locations in St. Louis, Forest Park. Rachel and Jermal wanted to have an outdoor ceremony, followed by an extended cocktail reception and later a dinner reception at Copia for close friends and family. We lined The Statue with 250 chairs over looking all of Forest Park- every moment was breathtaking.
Rachel and Jermal celebrated with friends and family drinking champagne and nibbling on cake pops. This charming couple is loved by so many, and it was not an easy decision to go against having a large wedding party yet to have one best man and one maid of honor. However, they honored 26 of their closest friends/family with boutonnieres and a large group picture. I LOVED this idea…everyone seemed to as well!

It was so flattering to be asking to join Great Day St. Louis for their July special on how to stay cool in the summer outdoor events…but now I am here to share with you things I LOVE for the Fall- Rustic looks, twigs, mercury glass, candy apples, kettle corn and so much more. Meet Kate and Grant Wiegmann…they were my August 20th clients. Kate and I first met because of her dear old Mizzou DG sorority sister, Mollie Lange (my previous client). Kate shared with me her and Grant’s ideal St. Louis wedding over a glass of champagne in celebration of their engagement last winter. They both live in South Carolina yet grew up in Missouri, so it was imperative to bring a little bit of Southern hospitality into their Midwestern wedding. Kate and I went back and forth with various ideas, modern inspirations, St. Louis locations and tons of tiny details that would end up making their day nothing less than ‘perfect’. I only got to see Kate and Grant a hand full of times but she became one of my dearest friends. I found myself chatting with her late nights beginning with”wedding talk” then diverting to latest Bachelor kicked off The Bachelorette.
I always talk about how I love getting to know my clients not only on a business level but a personal one as well. One of my favorite moments to this day with a client would be with Kate and Grant. Kate, Grant and I went to the church on one of their visits to St. Louis (they have never seen the church but booked it based on my word, ha). I could tell they were nervous and anxious to see it for the first time… when we walked outside, Kate jumped up in Grant’s arms with this radiant smile and said, “BABE, I love it! We are getting MARRIED!!!” I honestly loved being a part of ‘their’ special moment. It reminded me that it’s not only about the big day…it’s everything leading up to it as well that makes it all the better. As you can see from these AMAZING pictures captured by Heather Roth Photography, just how in love these guys are. (Please check out Heather’s blog for more pictures)
Now, for the good stuff… As you can see, Kate is a very chic, modern, easygoing, JCrew/Kate Spade prep stylish girl who knows exactly what she wants (my kinda girl). Her wedding must have was Gebbs Film (see previous post from their same day edit). Heather Roth photography was the perfect fit for Kate and Grant, it was a “love at first site” kind of thing. The floral was certainly not Grant’s main priority, but Kate and I had a vision for none other than Becky Huffman to create a look with white floral, fresh plants and twigs and it was amazing! Lumen Event Space was hands down Kate and Grant’s look, they wanted a reception with food stations so guests could mix and mingle over the course of dinner and it was fabulous (not to mention the Farmers Market station, WOW-delish)!
Oh, I forgot to mention the Wiegmann Gin Bucket- hey it’s family tradition, you know I had to get in on the fun!
I am amazed by how many wonderful people I get to work with and for. There is no exception for this couple, it seems like yesterday I started working with Kate and Grant. Kate and Grant both grew up in Missouri and now reside in South Carolina, it was important for them to guarantee their friends and family from all over had the best St. Louis experience. They wanted food stations, welcome bags, great music and simple yet elegant decor. This is just a little sneak peek to their day…more details and photos soon!! (You can’t tell me their first look doesn’t give you goosebumps…every stinking time!)
